Rugs from Tehran are knotted by hand in the Persian capital and are known for their careful workmanship and artful design. As the capital, Tehran drew knotters and designers from all over the country, and you can see this in the rugs: their patterns combine influences from many regions of Persia, floral compositions, medallions and fine tendril work in a balanced palette. Designs were drawn up by dedicated pattern designers and transferred knot by knot, work that takes months. A Tehran rug thus brings a piece of craft history into the room without being obtrusive. Where the wool is hand-spun, it carries fine colour nuances (Abrash) that give each piece its own character and become visible in the light.

This rug measures 72 × 55 cm and works well in a kitchen or entrance area. It comes in blue and features a pictorial motif; the border is multicoloured. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 360,000 to 640,000 knots per square metre. It is between 50 and 100 years old.

In the kitchen, a blue rug adds a calm accent; with white fronts and wood it feels both fresh and down to earth.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
