Yazd lies on the edge of the central Persian desert, an old caravan city on the routes of the Silk Road, where weaving and dyeing have been part of daily life for centuries. The knotters of Yazd work in a town tradition: densely set knots, clear drawing and a feeling for symmetry that is passed on from one generation to the next. The great motifs of Persian rug art live on in the patterns: the central medallion, trailing fields of blossom and the Boteh as a teardrop-shaped emblem of growth and life. The closeness to silk weaving still shapes the city's reputation today and shows in the fineness of the drawing. So a Yazd speaks less of the nomad camp than of the urban craft of a desert city where patience and precision have always belonged together.

This rug measures 54 × 47 cm and works well in a kitchen or entrance area. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is multicoloured. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 250,000 to 490,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

In the kitchen, a blue rug adds a calm accent; with white fronts and wood it feels both fresh and down to earth.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
