The Bakhtiari are a nomadic people who live in the Zagros Mountains west of Isfahan and around Shahr-e Kord, and their rugs carry the robustness of this life within them. Bakhtiar rugs are considered particularly heavy and durable, knotted from strong, thick wool that outlasts generations. Their best-known pattern is the Kheshti, a garden design of symmetrical fields filled with plants and animals, a woven image of the Persian garden, which is regarded as a symbol of fertility and abundance. In between you will discover the boteh, which in a floral context often stands for a cypress, along with weeping willows and vines. Other Bakhtiar rugs show a large central medallion on a floral ground. Where the wool is hand-spun, Abrash is part of the character: the lively colour variation of a rug that tells of the land and its people.

This rug measures 135 × 101 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in a mix of colours and features a pattern divided into panels; the border is beige. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 160,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre.

A colourful rug turns the hallway into a place with character; keep walls and coat rack simple and it looks tidy.
