The Yagdjibedir rug comes from western Turkey, from the hilly Aegean region around Sindirgi, which belongs to the province of Balikesir. In the villages of the Yagci Bedir, knotting has a firm place in life. It is the craft this area is known for and proud of. The work is done with great patience and a sure hand, from wool that gives the rug its firm, earthy character. Where the wool is spun by hand, it never takes up the dye quite evenly; this quiet shimmer, the Abrash, is part of its village origin. The patterns of the Yagci Bedir have grown over generations and carry on the rug tradition of the whole region, calm, clear and unmistakably Anatolian.

This rug measures 192 × 105 cm and works well in a bedroom, hallway or kitchen. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is red. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% virgin wool. Rugs of this quality typically have 160,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre. It is between 50 and 100 years old.

A blue rug suits the bedroom well, because blue is calming; slide it under the bed so you step onto it in the morning.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
