Ardebil lies in the north of Persia, capital of the province of the same name near the Caucasus. And you can see this proximity in the rug: Ardebil rugs are thinly knotted and carry a clear, geometric pattern closely related to the Caucasian design language. The town's name is also linked to a famous piece of rug history: the so-called Ardabil Carpet, dated 1539/40, was made for the shrine of Sheikh Safi in Ardebil and sold in the 19th century. Today you can admire it in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This combination of sober geometry and a great name defines the character of the Ardebil. Where the wool is hand-spun, the colour shimmers with slight variations: Abrash, the honest sign of genuine knotting work.

This rug measures 297 × 200 cm and works well in a living room, dining room or bedroom. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is red. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 160,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

In the living room, a blue rug brings sofa and armchairs together into an island; cognac, leather and warm wood make a lovely counterpoint.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
