Around the small town of Mrirt in the heart of the Middle Atlas, Amazigh families knot rugs whose reputation reaches far beyond Morocco. The Mrirt is made from the soft, densely grown highland wool of sheep that live on the cool pastures of the mountains. That wool gives the rug its deep knotting and the calm, almost velvety texture it is known for. Instead of loud patterns, the weavers work with plain surfaces and fine structures in which the light can play. Where hand-spun wool takes colour a shade differently, Abrash appears, that living shimmer of tone which marks every Mrirt as handwork. The rug speaks less of decoration than of the warmth and the patience of an old craft.

This rug measures 347 × 264 cm and works well in a living room, dining room or bedroom. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% virgin wool.

In the living room, the rug anchors the seating; the coffee table stands fully on it, the sofa sits flush or slightly overlaps it.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
