Around the city of Hamadan in western Persia lies one of the country's most productive knotting landscapes: village after village, each with its own signature. Assadabad is one of these places, and as in the neighbouring villages, its rugs tell of the everyday life of the people who knot them: strong colours and playful motifs, sometimes floral, sometimes geometric, each in the colour and formal language a village has developed for itself over generations. An Assadabad is therefore less the work of a workshop than the expression of a village tradition: direct, lively, often knotted from memory. Where the wool is spun by hand, the colour never turns out entirely uniform: Abrash, the fine shadings in the pile that make every village rug an honest piece of handwork.

This runner measures 201 × 81 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is beige. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 250,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre.

A blue runner draws a calm line through the hallway; with space to the walls it feels generous rather than cramped.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this runner in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
