The Djozan belongs among the finely worked voices of Persian knotting. Its name leads to the town of the same name in Persia, whose weavers are known for careful craft and for the soft handle of good wool. What marks it out is the finely balanced design: floral vines that often gather around a central medallion, that calm centre which gives so many Persian rugs their clear middle. Everything feels restrained rather than crowded, a quiet care in every detail. It is knotted by hand, knot by knot, a process that takes weeks and months. Where hand-spun, naturally dyed wool is used, a fine abrash is part of the picture, the living depth of colour that sets a hand-knotted Djozan apart from any machine-made imitation. A rug for anyone who loves craft and finely drawn pattern.
