Toysarghan is one of those villages around Hamadan where rug knotting has belonged to everyday life for generations. The area counts among the most productive knotting regions in Persia, and the special thing is this: every village keeps its own signature. The weavers of Toysarghan work with a charming, almost naive formal language, sometimes floral, sometimes strictly geometric, passed on by eye and memory rather than from a drawn template. Warm reds, deep blues and quiet beiges traditionally form the ground on which these motifs live. Because the wool is spun by hand, the colour often shifts gently from row to row. This Abrash is no blemish but the signature of genuine village knotting. A Toysarghan tells you of the rhythm of country life around Hamadan.
