Like many of its neighbours, the Meshkabad comes from the dense network of villages in the Arak region of western Persia, an area in which almost every village cultivates its own knotting signature. Its range is characteristic: sometimes floral, sometimes strictly geometric, the patterns arise from what shapes the daily life of the knotters. From village to village the forms and ground colours change, from strong red through deep blue to calm beige, so that no two Meshkabad rugs are alike. These richly coloured, playful rugs hold the grounded liveliness of genuine village knotting. And where the wool is spun by hand, Abrash naturally belongs: the fine shimmer in the colour tone that marks no flaw but reveals origins in natural material and patient handwork.

This rug measures 215 × 127 cm and works well in a living room. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is red. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 160,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre. It is between 50 and 100 years old.

In the living room, a blue rug brings sofa and armchairs together into an island; cognac, leather and warm wood make a lovely counterpoint.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
