In the heart of Persia, in the historic region of Farahan, the Farahan rug is at home, a type that speaks quietly rather than loudly. Farahan knotters are known for their calm, harmoniously ordered patterns, above all the delicate Herati or Mahi motif, the diamond form reminiscent of a small fish that repeats across the field and gives it an even, almost meditative rhythm. Add to this a muted, carefully matched palette in which the wool often breathes in fine Abrash shadings, lending depth to the pattern. The result is a rug that does not compete for attention but carries a room. The Farahan tells of a Persian knotting tradition that draws elegance from restraint and puts care before effect.

This rug measures 152 × 104 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in beige and red and features a central medallion; the border is blue. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. It is over 100 years old, which makes it an antique piece.

In the hallway, a beige rug brightens the way; leave a hand's width of floor free all round so it has room to breathe.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
