The Goltuk comes from Kurdish villages between Bidjar and Zanjan in north-western Persia. It is knotted by Kurdish families whose signature can be recognised in its sturdy construction: as with the related Bidjar, the wefts are beaten down hard, creating a dense, robust and remarkably stable rug. In its colour palette the Goltuk tends to stay restrained and cool, before individual warmer tones enliven the pattern. Where it is made from hand-spun wool, it shows that gentle Abrash which tells of work at the spinning wheel. The Goltuk thus stands for Kurdish village craft, a rug built to accompany generations.

This runner measures 300 × 81 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in red and features a central medallion; the border is red too. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 250,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

A red runner leads you warmly through the hallway; leave a hand's width of floor free at the sides and it feels generous.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this runner in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
