The town of Malayer lies between two great names of Persian rug art: the knotting region of Hamadan and the area around Sarough. The Malayer rug has drawn from both worlds and made something of its own from them: a craft that masters floral motifs as well as clear geometric forms. Sometimes the pattern follows a fine, playful ornamentation, sometimes a calm geometry, and it always carries a carefully balanced colouring that makes the rug feel alive. It is this double talent that has made the Malayer sought after for generations. Where the wool is hand-spun, natural Abrash grows from it, the gentle colour variation that gives every Malayer depth and warmth. A rug that unites tradition and versatility in the same field.

This rug measures 114 × 83 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in black and features an all-over pattern; the border is beige. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% virgin wool. Rugs of this quality typically have 250,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre. It is between 50 and 100 years old.

In the hallway, a black rug adds a clear, graphic accent; pale walls and brass make it feel friendly.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
