The Meymeh comes from the Persian town of the same name, where knotting is a firm part of everyday life. Its finely drawn patterns and lively colours are characteristic, built up carefully knot by knot by the weavers. Much of the region's history sits in these traditional designs: handed-down motifs that travel from one workshop to the next and keep their own signature as they go. A Meymeh is therefore less decoration than craft told aloud: it carries within it the formal language of a particular town and its people. Where the wool is spun by hand, the colour runs through the surface in soft shadings. The play of colour known as abrash belongs to these rugs as handwriting belongs to a letter. With a Meymeh you bring a piece of long-grown Persian weaving art into your home.

This rug measures 172 × 121 cm and works well in a bedroom, children's room or study. It comes in red and blue and features a central medallion; the border is beige. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 250,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

A red rug makes the bedroom feel cosy; bed linen in cream or sand lets its colour settle calmly.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
