Isfahan is one of the oldest cities in Persia, known for its domes, mosques and wide garden grounds. Exactly that visual language returns in the city's rugs: finely drawn vines, blossom motifs and ornamented medallions that recall the gardens and architecture of the region. Isfahan was already capital and court in Safavid times, and its workshops worked for palaces and mosques; that closeness to architecture still shapes the patterns today. The city counts as one of the strongholds of fine knotting, where highly experienced weavers bring out even the smallest details with clarity. On the upright loom, dense and precise patterns take shape with great depth of colour, all of it by hand, knot by knot. On a larger piece, a family will often work for months, sometimes for years.

This rug measures 145 × 103 cm and works well in a hallway, kitchen or entrance area. It comes in beige and red and features a central medallion; the border is red. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 750,000 to 1,000,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

In the hallway, a beige rug brightens the way; leave a hand's width of floor free all round so it has room to breathe.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
