Hamadan is not a single workshop but one of the oldest and largest knotting regions of Persia: hundreds of villages in the western highlands where work at the looms still follows inherited knowledge. You can recognise a Hamadan by its honest, down-to-earth construction: knotted with the symmetrical Turkish knot over a single weft, traditionally from hand-spun wool. This makes it strong, firm and robust, a rug for real life, not for the display cabinet. Its patterns are clear and geometric, often arranged around a medallion or the continuous Herati motif. Where the wool is spun and dyed by hand, the tones drift gently. This Abrash is the mark of authenticity of village knotting art and makes every Hamadan a piece of living craft tradition.

This rug measures 55 × 50 cm and works well in a kitchen or entrance area. It comes in blue and features a central medallion; the border is red. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% cotton. Rugs of this quality typically have 160,000 to 360,000 knots per square metre. It is between 20 and 50 years old.

In the kitchen, a blue rug adds a calm accent; with white fronts and wood it feels both fresh and down to earth.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
