On Jebel Sirwa, where the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas meet, the Ouzguit tribes weave the rugs that bear their name. In this remote mountain region, knotting is part of life, and the Ouzguit shows it in its fine, careful knotting in sturdy highland wool. Its language is geometry: clear diamonds, lines and signs that have always been read as symbols in Berber tradition, for instance of protection or life in the mountains. The colours often come from plant dyes, which is why the tones look vivid and natural. Where wool and dye are made by hand, the tone sometimes shifts slightly: Abrash, the lively hallmark of genuine handwork. In this way the Ouzguit combines robust craftsmanship with a symbolism deeply rooted in the mountains around Jebel Sirwa.

This rug measures 369 × 203 cm. It is hand-knotted, with a pile of 100% virgin wool and a foundation of 100% virgin wool.

A hand-knotted rug brings warmth and structure to a room; position it so that it connects groups of furniture rather than dividing them.

With the AR Visualizer, you can place this rug in your room to scale before you order and see how it looks.
